Woven Metal Workshop
Instructor:  Darlene Armstrong
Prerequisite: None
Class Limit: 10

In this fascinating class, students will have the opportunity to learn how to weave a circular metal chain that can vary in thicknesses, that requires no soldering and yet is incredibly sturdy, beautiful and very sellable.  Once the technique is mastered, one can work on this style of chain anywhere one might need to wait (such as a doctor's office or hair appointment) and can be also done in the evening in front of the t.v.  This chain can be made in any metal you choose.  Also taught will be how to easily make twisted and double twisted wire (which can be used to make lovely cable chains) and how to weave metal bezel strips to create textured pieces to be used in future jewelry making designs.

Students from this class may also benefit from taking the Simple Findings class. In the Simple Findings class, students learn how to make a custom finding for this chain (or leather) and rivet the chain into the finding, among many other types of closures and processes.
