In this exciting brand new workshop, Lexi Erickson (our resident expert in the many ways of metalsmithing and is featured in Lapidary Journal almost every month) is going to teach the techniques for building these type of complex and fascinating pendants.
This is produced by using 2 or 3 separate metal layers all soldered to each other in a very precise manner. There is the silver base plate and students may choose to use copper or red brass for the overlay pieces. The base plate will be highly textured and the overlay will have a simpler texture. Students will have the option of adding to the design a smallish size stone if desired.
Several different creative patterns will be available from Lexi, as students do not have to do the Shaman design, but will have options as to the type of design they might wish to produce using the same techniques......
