Metals (These are the minimums needed to complete the workshop. A bit more is fine.)

Sterling silver sheet, 20 gauge, dead soft
Argentium round wire, 14 gauge, dead soft
Sterling silver round wire, 20 gauge, dead soft
Plain 26 gauge fine silver bezel, dead soft, fit to stone (with at least 1 mm above girdle of the stone) PLEASE CHOOSE STONE FIRST! (we will check stone and bezel in class)
6 inches of each
Extra easy, easy, medium, hard silver wire solder, 20 or 22 ga (label & keep them separate)
6 x 6 inch
Copper sheet, 20 gauge (you will probably have to get a 6 x 12 online)
Nickel to quarter sized traditional cabochon. (20 mm diameter or larger) Flat bottom. No facets. Any shape. Rounded external corners only, (if it has corners).

Design Stamp(s), Steel (OPTIONAL) (we have many you can borrow)
Sandpapers, 220, 320, 400, 600 grits (wet/dry, dark grey, full sheets 9”X11”) ACE has these
Sanding stick blanks (we have some in our office for purchase)
Face mask, disposable (3M particulate respirator, N95 or better)
Additional Supplies (from various local stores or what you have at home)
Ear Protection (foam type that goes in your ears, with or w/out neck strap)
Very small plastic containers with separate lids for each compartment (2 contact lens cases will work) these are to keep your solder chips from getting mixed up
1 or 2
small containers for your scrap silver and copper pieces
old kitchen towel (tea or bar towel, not terry cloth, old sweatshirt pieces work well)
The Following Items Are Suggested:
Wite-Out with a brush (the generics work fine) (we have some in the office, too)
Disposable gloves (that fit well) to keep hands clean when polishing
Optivisor or reading glasses (for help seeing up close; 12-18 inch focal length!)
Didymium plus ACE glasses (for soldering) D&L Art Glass has these locally
Apron (to cover clothes and front of body from neck to about mid-thigh)
We have the required items for Metals 1 in the office, if you cannot find them online or locally. Call us and we can get your supplies together BEFORE your workshop begins and you can pay for those items over the phone. You may choose a stone and bezel wire after the first day, if needed.
