Marrying two or more contrasting metals- using solder- creates fun, complex or even whimsical patterns. This Marriage of Metals technique is frequently taught as a way to help students boost their sawing and soldering skills. But it also serves as a great way for metalsmiths to seamlessly add a pop of color into a ring band, set of earrings or pendant. With this technique, simple patterns can become just as interesting as complicated ones.
In this workshop, participants will design and create a unique ring that marries two or more metals into one eye-catching pattern. We will be creating a ring in this particular workshop, but students will be able to take the skills learned in class and use them for any number of projects, accents and jewelry pieces.
