Prerequisite: None (must be proficient at cutting out shapes with a saw frame)
Class Limit: 10
Class Duration: 8 Hours
What are cold connections? How do you rivet pieces of metal together?
This informative class will introduce you to the wonderful world of cold connections. Riveting is used to connect parts together without using a torch. There are books written on nothing but how to make jewelry using riveting techniques. Perfect for someone wanting to learn a different way to build jewelry pieces without soldering, or a budding metalsmith who has not yet learned to solder. In addition to working with tube and wire rivets, you will also learn how to wire rivet a bezel cup onto a pendant & set a stone.
In the morning, we will learn and practice many techniques – after lunch students will develop and build their own designs.
There is not a prerequisite for this workshop, but you should be proficient in cutting out metal shapes with a jeweler's saw frame.
