Basic Forming Class
Instructor: Travis Ogden
Prerequisite: Metalsmithing I
Class limit: 10
First 5 weeks
Using flat metal, we will design and create unique 3-D forms that are useful as earrings, pendants and brooches. Create your own pattern or use an existing one. The metal will be shaped with basic jewelry pliers and spot soldered for strength.
Last 5 weeks
Using the recently developed “Fold Forming” technique, we will create a wide variety of shapes and forms. The metal will initially be shaped by hand and then hammered to develop unique and creative shapes that can be applied to any form of jewelry.
